Review of Dunhill Aged Maduro Cigar

By: Gary Manelski

The Dunhill Aged Maduro is a Dominican cigar that features a Sun Grown Ligero Maduro wrapper. The cigars hit retail in September 2016, and are available in three sizes, including a Short Robusto (4 x 54) that was sampled for this short review. This particular vitola is priced at $10.45 per single stick, but I found 10-packs available online for $62.90, and 5-packs for $40. For more information about these cigars, please check out the press release from General Cigar, distributor of the Dunhill brand in the U.S.

The cigar began with an enjoyable sweet and moderate peppery flavor. The pepper faded as the cigar was smoked, but the natural sweetness remained as the smoke became smoother. I found this cigar to be a very enjoyable medium-to-full smoke that held a long ash and had a great draw and an even burn. No relights nor touch-ups were needed during the 30 minutes that it took me to smoke the cigar down to 1½ inches remaining. Overall, the Dunhill Aged Maduro is a superior cigar that deserves a rating of 4.25 points on a 5-point scale.

Here is a picture of the cigar after smoking for about 15 to 20 minutes. I removed the band at this point to continue smoking for another 10 to 15 minutes. The Short Robusto is an enjoyable short smoke for those times when time is limited.
